AlargenumberofsoftwareproductsareonthemarketwithanSNMPmanager
function.Therearecommand-lineorientedtoolsandsmalltesttoolswithGUI.
Therearealsosomecomprehensiveandusuallyverycostlysoftwareproducts.
ManyITdepartmentswithquitelargenetworks,serversandPCDsusepower-
fulmanagementsoftware.ThissoftwareincludestheSNMPfunctiontogether
withotherfunctionsthatservetoincreasetheavailabilityofthesystems.Alarge
numberoftheseproductscanbeimportedbyanMIBleliketheSaiaMIB_clas-
sic.mible.OurteststodatehaveshownthattheSNMPagentfunctionhasbeen
implementedinaccordancewiththestandard.Unfortunately,wedonothavethe
capabilitytocarryouttestswithalargenumberoftheSNMPmanagementtools
thatareavailable.TestshavebeenconductedwiththeWindowsversionofthe
Net-SnmptoolandthefreeversionoftheiReasoningMIBbrowsingsoftware.
