Controller and Host Addressing
Bus Dynamics
Your controller is the intelligent bridge between your host and the devices and the
logical units comprising your subsystem. The controller is an integral part of any
storage subsystem because it provides a host with high-performance and high-
availability access to the storage devices, sometimes called disk drive Storage
Building Blocks (SBBs).
As Figure 3–1 shows, the controller communicates through two buses:
■ Controller device bus
■ Host bus
